Two for Tuesday - All About Research!

Another Two for Tuesday - the day that 2 products are reduced by 50%!  Love these deals!

The other day I had a flash freebie over on FB with one of my research products.  I was reminded how much I LOVE using these in my classroom.  Every week my kids get a chance to visit the computer lab and when they are done doing the task I assign them, they get a chance to work on their research folder.  I have a crate in my classroom with all these little papers.  I switch them out over time, but the crate contains these research slips for students to study about... Kind of like Genius Hour, but with some more direction from me.

So here's what I have marked 50% off for today only.  (I'll switch them back when sitting at the airport on Wednesday.)

My Animal Research Bundle contains 4 categories of animals to learn more about.  Each animal also comes with a lined piece of paper (with clip art) for students to write sentences and paragraphs about their animal.  Perfect for reports, or for the fun of learning about animals!

Zoo Animals - 24 animals
Ocean Animals - 20 animals
Farm Animals - 7 animals
Forest Animals - 14 animals

My Big Research Bundle contains 6 products to study more in depth.  Each topic also includes lined paper (with clip art) in order for students to write sentences or paragraphs about the men, women, countries, careers, or animals.

Here's what's included:
Rainforest - 11 Animals to learn about.  We study these during our Ecosystem unit.

Famous African Americans - 12 men and women that are crucial to know about.  We study these people in February for Black History month.

When I Grow Up - 11 careers to learn about, we study these in conjunction to our Monday college days (when we have to dress up and learn about different careers and where to study).

What a Small World - 13 Countries from around the world.  We study these during the Olympics, or during our Government unit (to compare/contrast).

Arctic Animals - 11 animals that live in the Arctic, we study these during Winter.

American Presidents - 12 presidents to learn about, perfect to use around President's Day.

I hope these help you!  Go check out the other links ups over at Chalk One Up for the Teacher!

Monday Made It - The 6th Monday of Summer

This is my 6th Monday of vacation... Time has flown, especially this past week.  I was so busy between teaching VBS, selling fireworks for school, getting ready for Vegas, and reading my book as I avoided housework :) , that there are only 2 Made It's for today.

Like I said - I've been getting ready for Vegas... I had a pile of business cards to bring with me, and I couldn't figure out where to put them... I had a feeling they were going to fly all over my purse, and I wanted something a little sturdier than a plastic sandwich bag.  We picked up 2 plastic pencil pouches (99 cents at Target), and I stuck a label on them.  No fancy fonts, just me going old school with a Sharpie marker.  I'm so excited to meet new people and fill up my "To Get" pouch.  Looking forward to making connections and growing my network!  Who knows, maybe those new business cards will turn into a future Swap - a - Card giveaway.  :)

Every year (for at least 7 years), I've gone to Big Lots to pick up a desk calendar for $3.  You see, I really do NOT like to change a calendar every month.  It was more necessary when I taught primary, but with my big kids, I just need someplace to record important information that will help remind them (and myself) what's coming up.  It's not an exciting made it, but it's functional.  I filled in my calendar with the things I already know.

I'll still need to fill in student birthdays when I receive that information, and assemblies, due dates, blah, blah, blah... But right now I have the end of the trimesters, minimum days, holidays, conferences, etc...  It has saved me so much time and headache using a paper calendar.  Highly recommend one!  In the classroom, this is always hung using small binder clips on my information wall.  It is very satisfying to rip the paper off at the end of the month.  :)

Well that's it for now... go check out the other link ups over at Tara's blog!

Five for Friday: I Survived the Week! (Giveaway)

fiveforfriday2_thumb[3]

Linking up with Doodlebugs for yet another Five for Friday!  Slow down summer... 5 weeks are over!!!  I knew this past week was going to be a rough one.  I'm a teacher on summer break... yet I worked harder this week than I have in a long time.

One:  VBS - Arts and Crafts Teacher for Preschool

I loved this years theme of Mount Everest.  This was my "classroom" this past week at night.  Snowflakes hanging everywhere.  We had igloos that transitioned the kids through the rooms.  It's one thing to have 32 fourth graders focus for the 6 hours I have them, it was a challenge to maintain focus for the dozen 3-6 year olds I had for 15 minutes each.  Painting almost every night, bubbles everywhere, it was so much fun!  The AC decided to quit during this extra hot week, so it was a little warm, but thankfully we had a fan to keep us company.

Two: 21 Day Fix

I decided it was time for me to get real about making good choices.  Too much Diet Coke and treats this past month... it was time to jump back on the wagon.  I'm loving this eating plan!  I am using the free (purple) 21 Day Fit Tracker app to help me keep track of what I'm eating.  Really happy with the results so far!

Three: Getting Ready for Vegas

I didn't go to Vegas last year, and then I drove my friends that went crazy... so I'm beyond excited about next week.  It's starting to feel real, I've been printing out my boarding pass, and name tags... pulled out my suitcase and have been trying to figure out what to wear...  Only a few more days until I get to physically meet some of my best blogging friends!

Four: Friend Time!

This past week my school has been selling fireworks to raise money.  Yesterday (and today) I spent time hanging out with these lovely ladies in a hot firework cage and holding a sign on the corner.  It was our grade level's turn to sell, we're trying to raise money for next year's big field trip.  I absolutely thank God for these women, it's so wonderful to be able to work with people you call your friends.

 Five:  Big Week on FB

My FB page reached 3,300 likes!  Feeling loved over there too, I wanted to have a shopping spree giveaway.  Tomorrow night I'll choose a random winner.  The giveaway is over on FB, so please go enter!

Have a great day!
